Since 1833 Cantine Florio have told the story of one of the oldest wineries in Sicily.

The last surviving enterprise of the famous Florio family, Cantine Florio offer to the visitors the opportunity to walk through history, among giant vats and long barrel rooms. 

“A forest of centuries-old wood” embraced by the enormous tuff vaults that accompanies its guests towards tasting the liquid art of Marsala Florio.

The visit
The history of Cantine Florio begins in 1833, when Vincenzo Florio, a great Sicilian entrepreneur, decided to build a factory "suitable for the production of Marsala", the Italian fortified wine par excellence. By immediately setting up a production aimed at raising the quality of Marsala, the Cantine Florio quickly became the most important protagonists in the production of the famous fortified wine.
With the Tour Florio we want to tell you the story behind one of the most famous Italian entrepreneurial families of all time and how the entrepreneurial intuition of Vincenzo Florio and the intimate qualitative evolution of the Marsala have managed to make the Cantine Florio an example of uniqueness in Italy, even after centuries.

The visit

The windy coasts of Marsala have always welcomed merchants and adventurers, and since 1833 they have welcomed the Florio Cellars. Tuff floors, high naves and a savory air given by the proximity to the sea characterize the beautiful cellars which, even today, thanks to the history with which they are steeped, are suitable for the production of Marsala Florio wine.

The wine tasting

The Florio Terrace wants to introduce you to another side of the Florio Cellars, after the visit in the historic naves you will be able to taste 3 wines, on the splendid and evocative terrace which overlooks the western sea of Sicily, a sea which has been and still is a fundamental and distinctive element of the do Marsala Florio. The wines that you can taste are the Vino Florio, a cultural wine that wants to tell the first act for the creativity of Marsala, a Marsala Vergine whose aging conditions guarantee a persistent flavor and finally a Marsala Secco, with an amber color, clear and defined at the palate, perfect for pairing with some of the most famous Sicilian savory dishes.
